Margaret River Open Gardens

Enjoy a self drive tour of gardens in Margaret River that are open just for this event. (A fundraiser for Arts Margaret River )

FRIDAY 11 JULY 2014

Springfield Garden, Bussell Hwy – 10am with morning tea

Rosemary and Bob Taylor’s large country garden is packed with cool climate winter flowering treasures overlooking a lake where they source their water. Expect to see stunning bark of some rare deciduous trees, unusual conifers, Magnolias, Camellias, Michelias, winter bulbs and some late flowering roses as you wander. There will probably be many plants you won’t recognize.

Free time for an early lunch around Margaret River

Heronsbrook, Caves Road – 1.30pm

A working vineyard with a chain of large ponds creating a semi circle which the solar passive house looks down upon. A huge collection of native plants planted sympathetically in the landscape with stone accessed off the property forming terracing.

Goldstone, Cowaramup – 3.00pm

See how this Cowaramup garden copes with our dry summer and yet has something happening in all seasons. The front and side isn’t reticulated and is full of tough Mediterranean plants and bulbs. Inside the garden beds are crammed with choice shrubs and perennials trying to maximize the space available.

$20 per person (not including lunch). Tickets available from Arts Margaret River.

Call 9758 7316 or visit the box office (open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm). Directions will be forwarded once tickets booked.
