Readers & Writers Festival 16-18 May 2014

The theme ‘Journeys’ has attracted an impressive line-up of national and local authors for the festival, the sixth run by Arts Margaret River.

Among the authors already confirmed are Joan London (Gilgamesh), Peter Goldsworthy (Wish) and Graeme Simsion (The Rosie Project).

`Journeys’ was chosen as the theme, allowing for the exploration of physical, imaginative, spiritual, professional and emotional journeys. From travel writing to media panels, graphic novels to science fiction, poetry to publishing– there promises to be something to attract everyone.

The weekend will kick off with an exploration of genealogical journeys on Friday, May 16 featuring researchers from the hit television program ‘Who Do You Think You Are’, the WA Genealogical Society’s Time Trackers, and the regions three local historical societies. Anyone interested in exploring and writing about their family history or local history will find a wealth of knowledge during the day, including historical displays and a free morning tea.

The festival will be officially opened on the Friday night, May 16 with the opening of the annual art exhibition and the announcement of the winner of the Margaret River Short Story Competition.
